Did I mention that I am in love with Bordeaux??.....

Salut mes amis!

Sorry my last post was kind of boring I know but I only had about 5 mins on the computer in the internet cafe. Today however I'm writing this form the CDI (biblioteque d'école - the library at my lycée) so I have more time as for once the internet is FREE!!! The library is very strict and the only sound I can hear is my typing and the occasional shreik from the librarian if someone even dares to audibly breathe lol.

My last week has been relitively event-free. The other students here had a "Bac Blanc" (a practice for the Bac at the end of the school year) on Thursday and Friday so Chihiro and I had a four-day weekend. We took this opportunity to be independent and go to Bordeaux toute seul... and by that I mean we had to catch the bus. Bad move!!! The Blaye-Bordeaux trip, which usually only takes 30-40 mins, took us almost two hours as the bus had to wind its way through all the country towns on the way and then dropped us off on the outskirts of Bordeaux so we had to catch the tram to the "centre-ville". But it was so worth it!!! We traversed the Rue St Catherine (the longest shopping street in Europe) multiple times and proceeded to search the side streets for smaller boutiques of which there are many! We had lunch at a cute little cafe that sells foot-long baguettes with French cheese...Oh man it was good!!!

On Saturday school holidays start and I have been invited to go skiing in the south east of France at a place called "Vars". I'll be going with two families - Chihiro's host family and the family that owns the little lodge in the moutains where we'll be staying. There are 3 boys and 4 girls who are about my age that I will be staying with and they have all been skiing since the day that they could walk!!! I have only ever been skiing once and I was taught by an instructor who couldn't speak English and so communicated the art of skiing by hand movements. So basically I suck but I have a whole week of skiing to get better. And in France they continue the tradition of Aprés Ski for which you must have appropriate clothing. The boots that you wear to the very important aprés ski must be elegant yet fit fot the snow so they have insisted that I buy new ones. I think I'll pass on that one (cause boots are v. expensive) and just use the excuse of being a daggy exchange student with very little in the way of elegant clothing!!!

And after my skiing adventure... Paris and Spain WOOT!!! (I'll write about that later)

Ciao... Pheebs xxx

P.S.
Pictures that I posted:
1) Blaye - my little French country town
2) Location of Blaye in France
3) On tour of Bordeaux with other exchange students
4) All the students from my district

Jane - I know I've said it already but HAPPY 18th ma belle!!!!
Tana - Bought Grey's Anatomy in Bordeaux (YAY!!!)... it's hilarious - they speak French!!!
Elecia - The partying never stops with you haha... keep it up lol
Kym - "Something has changed within me, something has changed within me, something has changed..." lol Good times!!!! I will check out Tim Amos's myspace toute suite!!! He is so not a geeb!

Helloooooo Phoebe

What is Bac? I am confusled.
And where is Bordeaux? Is it the main city near your town? And what is Bordeaux toute seul? As you can see the questions haven't stopped just because school has.

Your trip to Bordeaux sounds fantastic. Was the shopping street filled with little French stores or international ones? How's the new French wardrobe coming along?

Hope you have fun on your ski trip. Don't forget "piece of pie"!

By the way, also sent you an email - don't know if you received it.

or the little cream puff XD

stay safe Pheebs! more photos!

hehehe you SOOOoOoOOoOo cannot check out his myspace and tell me he doesn't look like a geeb.

geeb geeb geeb geeb geeb.

I feel special coz I can answer tana's question hehe so I'll answer one & you feel extremely special and answer the rest. The Bac - aka Bacaleureate (spelling?) - is the massive test for frenchies at the end of the yr & is apparently very very very very incredibly hard & if you fail you're screwed for life lol. Apparently there's a school setting up here that wants to introduce it too!!!! insanity. hehe but they can go ahead...I don't mind :P

ANYWAY I SHALL BEGIN THIS COMMENT AFRESH.

oooooooooooooooooooooooo
phoebe's going on a ski trip
who knows what could happen on those skis. hehe if I say any more your maman will think i'm a nut job. Watch yourself & your skis around those french boys lol & don't knock any of them out!!! bahahahaha I just had this vision of you their wonderful foreign exchange student accidentally flailing & hitting heidi's "aesthetically pleasing" french boys in the face as you attempt to ski hehehe.

Love the photos! & loved the post you brightened up my tremendously dreary day by a MILE. I think I may have to call you very very soon we shall see. Until then I shall see who I can find to chip into my 'Find Phoebe Fund' (where they buy me a return ticket to france to come find you).

'me tarzan, you jane.'
'you MAN.'

classic heheheh.

tch you make me feel special....and knowing I can trype. lol TYPE this without anyone else fully appreciating it makes me feel special too hehe. Did you get my email with your pic? There's another one on the way soon :)

oh AND....I mentioned Tim Amos to someone still @ somerville the other day & they had NO IDEA who he was & I suddenly felt very old & missed you a heck of a lot.

..AND my dance teacher wants to teach us ballet. But I was so incredibly hyper last week I don't like his chances :) just imagine it hehehehe me + ballet = BAHAHAHAHA

salut ma cherie!!!
Ta vie sens d'etre magnifique! Tu as de la chance....et je voudrais etre en France avec vous! xoxoxo
ok, so I replied to your initial email (the one in which you told us all about your new email address), and, although I forget exactly what I said...I do know that I asked for your new address (which you have now posted, merci beaucoup!)...However, I don't know if I actually sent the email to your new address...I suspect that I sent it as a reply to your old address...so, long, tedious story short; I did contact you a little while ago, but am now posting a blog (the first time that I've ever posted one anywhere,- j'ai fiere!) Basically, I am now back in Australia, but I was in San Francisco, skiing in Canada, and in Tahiti - briefly - so I shall send you a postcard purchased in Tahiti - expect it...someday!
As I'm sure that you're aware, O'Week is next week....I've decided to do Arts/Law at UQ...and Scholars' was on Monday...Tana was there!!! Happy times, tana, - let me know whether you decide on dentistry or science (/something else before your prodigious postgrad med!)...and, phoebe, I would have been sitting next to you *tear* - but instead it was Immi, then me, then Katherine (which changed to Ffion - they screwed up the alphabetical order, so it changed after we collected certificates - which are lovely, btw, - Somerville did itself pride...) Anyway, what I realisedd was that our QCS trio (ie. you, Immi and me!) were all on the invite list...aren't the Ws talented? haha It's just that there are so many of us...Sare, Hannah, Ffion...
Quoi d'autre? J'ai decide d'etudier le francais a l'universite - pour cette semestre il va etre mon seul sujet pour des lettres...(btw, sorry about the random bursts of french...I'm just wishing, dreaming, furrowing through a lavendar field in the depths of Provence...I entered a L'Occitane competition though - the $250 voucher may help to fill my cracking soul hahah
Oh, and, it being Valentine's Day (and both brothers out with their respective long-term girlfriends - yes, Duncan [year 12 this year, haha] too), I shall comment on my sad, sad state of affairs, haha.
Some stuff (not what anyone reading this may be thinking, - I just went - innocently! - to the movies and his new year's party - free cocktails pheebs :0) - and exchanged a few emails)...essentiellement, j'ai passe du temps avec Dan (schoolies) - et il m'aime, et je ne l'aime pas 'en cette facon' - et il y a des problemes! Donc nous ne parlons pas encores...oh, and I'm still in touch with jumper boy...he's doing psychology at qut.
Moving right along. I probably shouldn't have shared all of that with the world!
I have a job trial tomorrow at Wordsmith's Cafe at UQ, - and it's Becky's party on Saturday night!
joy.
The oc is so painful that I can't watch it - only occassionally, and with multiple distractions.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY JANE!!! - just so that my [very late] well wishes are in writing haha
oh, and I emailed the Australian Gourmet Traveller for a recipe that I saw in a waiting room - they posted me the recipe that I requested, - for Profiteroles with Almond Ice-cream and Valhrona sauce...I shall experiment.
If you're still reading this then you'll have noticed that I am a chronic ... and - overuser - sorry about that (there I go again...it wasn't even deliberate!)
***And are you going to the Rugby World Cup?***
...just left to go to dinner, and forgot what else I was going to say!!!
rest assured that i have greatly enjoyed reading your blogs, and that your adventures (however mundane some moments may - possibly - seem) sound thrilling to this antipodean soul!
grosses bises ma cherie,
et beaucoup d'amour - et mon anniversaire va etre Black Friday!!
costumes are-a-coming :0)
wish you could come (although event is not yet planned!)
Amuses-toi bien!
suzannah xoxoxoxoxox
*I just previewed this and it's waaaay too long - I'm so sorry! But I'm too lazy to edit...so you shall all plow through my epistle!
